To provide a hybrid power generator that effectively utilizes a battery to reduce operation noise and improve fuel economy.
A load detection part 90 detects a load. When the remaining battery power detected by a battery power detecting part 91 is equal to or larger than an engine start threshold, an engine 2 is kept stopped and power is output only from the battery 4. When the remaining battery power is smaller than the engine start threshold after detecting the load, the engine 2 is started to output power from both of the battery 4 and an engine power generator 3. When the remaining battery power decreases below a discharge stop threshold lower than the engine start threshold after detecting the load, the output from the battery 4 is stopped to output power only from the engine power generator 3. The ratio of power output from the battery 4 and the engine power generator 3 conforms to a remaining battery power/output ratio map that increases the output ratio of the engine power generator 3 as the remaining battery power decreases.
