PURPOSE: To bring out the advantages of reinforcement with fibers in combination with the merits of reinforcement of a porous body by dispersing fibers in a ceramic porous body.

CONSTITUTION: A stock soln. for foamed plastics, e.g., a stock soln. for urethane foam is prepd., desired fibers are dispersed in the soln. and urethane foam is molded from the stock soln. contg. the fibers. The urethane foam is immersed in a slurry of desired ceramics to stick the ceramics to the fibers present on the outer wall of the urethane foam and in the pores in the foam. The urethane foam is then dispersed and vanished. A ceramic porous body (hybrid reinforced material) contg. uniformly dispersed fibers can be obtd.
