Abstract:

To improve start performance of a Darrieus type wind mill, reduce strong bending moment applied to a rotary shaft and vibration by Magnus effect by moment of a paddle-shaped wind mill, reduce height of center of gravity when compared with a hybrid turbine of the Darrieus type wind mill and a Sabonius type wind mill to perform excellent maintenance and management and provide excellent safety, improve efficiency because the Darrieus type wind mill and the paddle-shaped wind mill do not interfere mutually through an air stream, realize a simple system, reduce the number of parts, and obtain high output per cost.

The paddle-shaped wind mill having the rotary shaft connected by a free wheel in common is installed in a lower part outside a rotary closed space of the Darrieus type wind mill to start by the paddle-shaped wind mill having high torque low rotation and transmit kinetic energy to the Darrieus type wind mill. When peripheral speed ratio of the Darrieus type wind mill is higher than that of the paddle-shaped wind mill, the connection is released by a free wheel mechanism, and a vertical shaft rotates by kinetic energy of the Darrieus type wind mill only. The paddle-shaped wind mill is installed in a lower part of the rotary shaft to reduce strong bending moment applied to the rotary shaft and load by Magnus effect because rear streams of both turbines do not interfere mutually.
