PURPOSE: To install a suspension type transport means or the like for city transportation, local transportation, etc., easily and at a low cost by providing both railway zones and cableway zones to be applicable to environmental conditions, and operating transport devices according to each zone.

CONSTITUTION: A transport device 10 is composed of a device main body 15 suspended from a suspension carriage unit 11 through a suspender 12. Cable grippers 30 to detachably grip a cable 70, running wheels 50 to roll on a railway 80, and a linear motor propulsion means 60 are installed at the suspension carriage unit 11. For an operation mode for railway zones 2, 4, the wheels 50 are rolled on the railway 80, and the linear motor propulsion means 60 is driven to operate the device 10. In the meanwhile, for an operation mode for a cableway zone 3, the cableway 70 is gripped by the grippers 30 to be pulled by the cableway 70 to operate the device 10. Both the railway zones 2, 4 the cableway zone 3 can thus be installed according to evironmental conditions, thereby a transport means can be installed in city transportation or the like easily and at a low cost.
