Abstract:

To increase a travel distance of a hybrid vehicle when only motors are used after stopping an engine thereof, to improve mileage, and to also increase battery life.

A controller for the hybrid vehicle has: an engine 10; first and second motor generators 21, 22 performing powering operation and regenerative operation; first and second inverters 31, 32 respectively driving them; and first and second batteries 41, 42 respectively supplying power to them or charged by them. The first battery 41 is controlled such that the first battery is available within a range of an upper limit value 80% to a lower limit value 40% of an SOC by a controller 100, and the second battery 42 is controlled such that the second battery 42 is available within a range of an upper limit value 90% to a lower limit value 10% thereof by the controller 100. The second battery 42 is used just before a complete discharge to increase the travel distance of the hybrid vehicle only with the motors, and the first and second batteries are individually managed to improve the mileage and to also increase the battery life.
