Abstract:

To provide a controller for a hybrid vehicle, suppressing a start frequency of an engine when an engine start request is performed during traveling in an electric automobile travel mode.

In the parallel hybrid vehicle having a first clutch CL1 disconnecting/connecting the engine Eng from/with a motor/generator MG, when target drive torque Td*of the vehicle becomes larger than a cranking request decision threshold value Td_th_Aduring the traveling in the "EV mode", the first clutch CL1 is fastened, and the engine Eng is cranked. When the target drive torque Td*becomes larger than an engine start request decision threshold value Td_th_Bthat is a value larger than the cranking request decision threshold value Td_th_A, the engine Eng is started.
