Abstract:

To secure starting performance while protecting an electric storage device exchanging electric power with a generator and a motor.

A hybrid vehicle performs motoring of an engine with a motor MG1 while stopping fuel injection and forcibly drives an auxiliary engine (S250 to S300) when motor power Pm consumed (generated) by two motors is less than a battery input limit Win, and inter-terminal voltage Vb of the battery is higher than a voltage (Vbmax-Vb) (S170, S200) at starting, and performs starting control for controlling the engine and the two motors so as to start traveling with power output to a drive shaft from the engine accompanied by power generation of the motor MG1 after the inter-terminal voltage Vb becomes not more than the voltage (Vbmax-Vb) (S120 to S150, S220, S230). Thereby, the battery can be protected while the startup performance can be secured.
