To improve hill-climbing performance and improve fuel economy at the time of reverse travel.
When a vehicle reversely travels while charging a battery using power from an engine, large electric power W1 is set to charging electric power Wb as the absolute value (S130) when an uphill gradient as the reverse travel is less than an absolute value of a threshold value θset while small electric power W2 is set to the charging electric power Wb as the absolute value (S140) when the uphill gradient as the reverse travel is not less than the absolute value of the threshold value θset. The engine and motors MG1, MG2 are controlled so that request power Pe* set based on the charging electric power Wb is output from the engine, and request torque Tr* is output to the drive shaft (S150 to S210). Thus, the hill-climbing performance at the reverse travel can be improved and the fuel economy can be improved.
