Abstract:

To suppress worsening of emission that may occur in shifting from motor travel of traveling only with power from a motor, to engine operating travel of traveling using power from an internal combustion engine.

When an EV switch is on, if the residual capacity of a battery (SOC) is not less than a threshold S1 required for starting the engine and the temperature Tw of cooling water is not lower than a threshold Tref which is a lower limit value in a temperature range allowing emission even if load operation is performed immediately after starting the engine, motor travel is continued until vehicle speed V exceeds a threshold Vref1 allowing motor travel (S130, S150), and when the vehicle speed V exceeds a threshold Vref2, motor travel is shifted to engine operating travel of traveling using power from the engine. When the temperature Tw of cooling water is lower than the threshold Tref, motor travel is continued until the vehicle speed V exceeds the threshold Vref2 smaller than the threshold Vref1 (S140, S150), and when the vehicle speed V exceeds the threshold Vref2, motor travel is shifted to the engine operating travel.
