Abstract:
A power generation unit (1) for series hybrid vehicles includes an engine (2) and a generator (3) arranged in series and coaxially. An engine housing (11) and a generator housing (13) are firmly connected to each other and supported by the vehicle body via mounts (5A, 5B) at two points on both ends. An extension shaft (12b) of the engine (2) extends through the hollow portion of a rotor shaft (16). The leading end of the extension shaft (12b) and the leading end of the rotor shaft (16) are connected to each other via a damper (20) that is located on the opposite side to the engine (2). Since the portion housing the damper (20) is not subject to a torque reaction force, the length of the generator housing (13), which requires high rigidity, can be shortened.
