Abstract:

To adjust the generation output of the torque equal to the user request torque so that the efficiency of the engine may become the best.

A battery is charged by operating a drive shaft 53 by controlling the generated torque of an engine and the output torque of a second power generation electric motor MG2, and controlling the electric power generated by a first power generation electric motor MG1 by changing the output of the engine based on the remaining capacity of the battery 63. The vehicle additionally controls the air-fuel ratio of the engine to the rich air-fuel ratio, if the predetermined condition is not satisfied, and controls it to the theoretical air fuel ratio if the predetermined condition is satisfied. When a specific condition including the case where the air-fuel ratio of the engine is controlled to the rich air-fuel ratio is satisfied, the vehicle executes the output restriction driving that limits the output of the engine below the upper limit value that is smaller than the engine maximum output, and brings the rich air-fuel ratio of the output restriction driving running closer to the theoretical air fuel ratio than the rich air-fuel ratio of the output restriction driving non-running.
