Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a hybrid vehicle in which a traveling mode can be preset depending on the traveling environment when a vehicle travels on a predetermined route.
CONSTITUTION: A route up to a destination is searched at a route searching section 43 and stored in the route memory area of a RAM 413. A motor drive section for driving a motor 10 with battery 411 power and an engine drive section for driving the motor 10 with the power generated from an engine driven generator 6 are determined previously while taking account of densely populated areas, exhaust gas regulated area, etc., and stored in a mode memory area. A densely populated area is decided based on the amount of map data in the lowermost layer including the traveling route. A decision is made for a determined motor drive section whether it can be run through only with the motor 10 based on the residual capacity of the battery 471. If the battery capacity is insufficient, the engine is driven to generate power from the generator 6 thus charging the battery 471. The charging section is set previously within an engine drive section and stored in the mode memory area.
