Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate a hybrid vehicle which uses a heat engine such as an internal combustion engine together with an electric motor under the optimal operating conditions wherein torque and the number of revolutions are kept constant in order to prevent the deterioration of exhaust gas emission of the engine.
SOLUTION: A hybrid vehicle has an internal combustion engine 1, a motor 2 which also serves as a generator, and a driving shaft 4 which transmits torque necessary for running a vehicle to wheels 61. In such a hybrid vehicle, the torque of the driving shaft 4 is distributed to an output shaft 11 of the engine 1 and an output shaft 21 of the motor 2. In order to change the torque distribution ratio, a variable speed planetary gear unit 3 which is a non-stage transmission is installed as a torque distributor between the shaft 4 and the shafts 11, 21. The torque distribution ratio and the number of revolutions of the output shaft 21 of the motor 2 are so controlled that the torque of the output shaft 11 and the number of revolutions of the engine 1 may be constant optimal values by adjusting the ratio of the number of revolutions of the shaft 11 to that of the shaft 21.
