To provide a hydraulic actuator for a vehicle which is small in a radial direction, high in responsiveness, easy to be assembled, and secured in the durability of a bush and packing.
An annular spacer 36R is formed, on the outer peripheral surface, with an annular groove 40R with an axial dimension (w) larger than the diameter (d) of an oil passage 34R, and formed, at the piston 16 side, with a plurality of radial grooves 46R establishing communication between the annular groove 40R and an oil chamber 32R. The annular spacer 36R is fitted between a rod cover 22R and the center 12a of a cylinder bore 12, and a piston 16 abuts on the annular spacer to determine its stroke. No moment is thereby generated to the piston 16 to obtain responsiveness and to prevent the partial wear of the packing 24R and the bush 28R while attaining a radially compact configuration and facilitating assembling with no assembling directionality.
