To control a lock up clutch in a fluid transmission device and supply circulation oil pressure by a simple circuit configuration.
This fluid transmission device 1 is provided with a friction engaging element 13a of the lock up clutch between a fluid transmission chamber R1 in which a pump impeller 11 and a turbine runner 12 are arranged and a servo oil chamber R2 of the lock up clutch 13. An oil passage L2 for lock up for supplying oil pressure for lock up into the servo oil chamber and an oil passage L1 for circulation for supplying oil pressure for circulation into the fluid transmission chamber are connected with a common oil pressure supply circuit S2, and an orifice 21 is arranged in the oil passage for circulation. Consequently, locking-up can be performed by providing difference in supply pressure while commonizing oil pressure supply in the oil passage for lock up and the oil passage for circulation.
