To provide an HMT (hydraulic mechanical transmission) or a hydraulic continuously variable transmission similar thereto, capable of ensuring switching of forward movement and backward movement as hardware.
A hydraulic continuously variable transmission includes a shift transmission control valve for adjusting a displacement amount of a rod of an actuator by controlling an oil pressure supplied to the actuator for a swash plate, and a link bar connected with an output shaft of a step motor and the swash plate for a hydraulic pump at both end portions, and connected with a spool for the shift transmission control valve at its intermediate portion. The shift transmission control valve has a sleeve movably inserted into a valve housing, and a spool movably inserted into the sleeve. When the sleeve is located on a D-range position, an inclination amount of the swash plate for the hydraulic pump is limited within a range from forward movement to neutral with respect to the whole movable range of the step motor, and when the sleeve is located on the R-range position, the inclination amount of the swash plate for the hydraulic pump is limited within a range from neutral to backward movement with respect to the whole movable range of the step motor.
