To reduce manufacturing cost by raising a yield and by reducing the number of working processes and improve general versatility as a forklift.
This hydraulic cylinder has a cylinder 1 as a fixed member, a rod 2 as a movable member inserted into the cylinder 1, and a piston 3 held on the top end of the rod 2 and slidably fitted in the cylinder 1 and partitioning a hydraulic pressure room R communicating with an outside oil supply source P. The rod 2 has at the top end thereof an annular groove 2c having recessed cross section in which the piston 3 is fitted, and an annular groove 2d in which a stop ring 8 for retaining a seal 6, which is fitted in the top end of the rod 2 in series with the piston 3 and whose outer periphery slidably contacts the inner periphery of the cylinder, is fitted. The piston 3 comprises a plurality of piston members 31 divided in the peripheral direction, the piston members 31 butting against each other at the ends thereof in a structure preventing the piston members 31 from moving in the direction of sliding and being annularly disposed.
