Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a hydraulic lash adjuster for a valve system of an internal combustion engine without leaking oil in a reservoir even when there exist casting dregs and flaws between the reservoir and an oil supply passage.
CONSTITUTION: A body 12 is installed in a lash adjuster installation hole 8 having a reservoir forming hole 9 serially and continuously formed, a slide plunger 14 making contact with the upper end part of a valve system is installed in the body 12, a cap type lining member 30A provided with an oil supply hole 33 is installed in the reservoir forming hole 9, and by the lining member 30A and the body 12, a reservoir 20 to reserve oil supplied through a supply channel 16 is partitioned and formed. Additionally, by the body 12 and the plunger 14, a high pressure chamber 18 communicated with the reservoir 20 through a small hole 34 and storing a check ball 36 working to block this small hole 34 is partitioned and formed, on the lining member 30A, a cylindrical lash adjuster installation hole insertion region 32 installed in the lash adjuster installation hole 8 and partitioning off a body storage room is integrally formed, and the reservoir forming hole 9 is surely isolated from the reservoir 20.
