To provide an improved switching arrangement for a master cylinder assembly.
The master cylinder assembly 10 is for controlling an automotive clutch 18 including switches for controlling functions such as enabling a stator motor, disabling a cruise control, or signaling an engine computer. The assembly includes an annular seal assembly 30 disposed in internal grooves 38m and 40h in the wall of a cylinder. The assembly 30 has a piston 34 sealingly engaging the cylinder and the cylinder is divided into a pressurized chamber and an unpressurized chamber. A plurality of axially spaced pairs of contacts 50c and 50d are provided at a cartridge 32 on the inner wall of the cylinder in the unpressurized chamber and cooperate with an annular contact 50 supported by a flange structure 54g forming a portion of the piston, so that as the piston moves axially within the cylinder in response to depression of a clutch petal 14, the annular contact 56 on the piston closes circuits along with the successive spaced pairs of contacts 50c and 50d on the inner wall of the cylinder to thereby successively enable or disable automobile control devices associated with the pair of cylinder contacts.
