To provide a hydraulic power transmission with a lock-up clutch capable of preventing deterioration in lock-up controllability.
The hydraulic power transmission with the lock-up clutch includes a front cover (4) connected to an input shaft (2) that rotates integrally with an engine, a pump impeller (6), an impeller shell (8), a turbine runner (12), a turbine shell (14) and the lock-up clutch (30). The lock-up clutch includes lock-up clutch body parts (46, 48, 52), a hydraulic chamber for fastening (40), a lock-up piston (32) and a pressure balance member (60) disposed between the lock-up piston and the turbine shell and extending radially outwardly from the side of the input shaft in such a manner that it covers at least part of an inner peripheral side region of the lock-up piston so as to reduce a pressure difference between the front and rear sides of the lock-up piston.
