Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize the even cooling while absorbing the heat of a friction surface with a friction lining for discharge and while continuously feeding the oil along a piston by leading the oil from a converter circulation passage into a chamber with a little distance from the friction lining in the radial direction.
CONSTITUTION: A bridge clutch 16 arranged between a turbine wheel 7 and a converter housing 13 of a hydraulic torque converter includes a piston 18 for forming a chamber 38 with the converter housing. The chamber 38 is connected to a longitudinal hole 25 of an output shaft 26 through at least one flow guide 70 in the radial direction. A part of the oil for pushing the piston 18 to the converter housing 13 reaches within a range of a thin plate 44 outside in the radial direction, and a flow passage 62 is passed through the inside in the radial direction with a work by a pressure difference from the chamber 38. With this structure, the friction lining 60, especially ranges 19, 20 of the main piston 18 and the converter housing 13 are cooled.
