To provide a hydraulic torque transmission device capable of improving fuel economy and operability of a vehicle.
A torque converter 1 has a front cover 2, an impeller 9, a turbine 10 and a lock-up device 5. The lock-up device 5 has a piston 51, a damper mechanism 7 and a friction generating mechanism 40. The friction generating mechanism 40 generates, by abrasion resistance, hysteresis torque applied in parallel with the damper mechanism 7 between the piston 51 and the turbine 10, and has a first clearance T1 and a second clearance T2. The first clearance T1 suppresses generation of abrasion resistance with respect to twisting vibration within a range of a first angle 1. The second clearance T2 suppresses generation of part of abrasion resistance with respect to twisting vibration within a range of a second angle 2 larger than the first angle 1 and is set larger than the first clearance T1.
