Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide an adjustability of oil flow rate through a passage hole from a reservoir chamber to a plunger head etc. by disposing a plate having a suitable number of grooves on its upper surface between a plunger having the reservoir chamber in its interior and plunger head etc. CONSTITUTION:When a reservoir chamber 12 and a high pressure chamber 13 are filled with oil, engine valve opening will apply a pressure to a plunger 2 to generate a high pressure in the high pressure chamber 13. When the engine valve is closed, the plunger 2 is returned by means of a spring 6 to allow the oil to flow from the reservoir chamber 12 to the high pressure chamber 13. In the present constitution, a metering plate 7 having a groove 8 on its upper surface is disposed between the plunger head 10 and plunger 2. When the oil pressure is supplied to the reservoir chamber 12, the metering plate 7 pressed against the plunger head. By such an arrangement, excess oil and air which have flown into the reservoir chamber 12 are drained through a clearance and the groove 8 between the plunger 2 and the metering plate 7 and a clearance of the plunger head 10.
