PURPOSE: To enable soil and sand on a river bed to be excavated from a spot on a bank, by a method wherein an openable bucket is pivotally supported to the front of a bucket, while a hydraulic cylinder is located between the two buckets, and a hydraulic cylinder is situated in a level lower than that of two bucket pivotally-securing pins.

CONSTITUTION: A bucket body 2 has a bracket having pin holes 1 and 1' in which a boom or an arm and a bucket cylinder are pivotally supported. An openable bucket 2', positioned opposite to the bucket 2, is pivotally supported to the bracket by means of a pivotally-supporting pin. A hydraulic cylinder 4 for opening and closing the openable bucket 2' is located between the bucket 2 and the openable bucket 2', and the working line of the hydraulic cylinder 4 is positioned in a level lower than that of a pivotally-supporting pin 3. This enables soil on a river bed to be scooped up from a spot on a bank.
