Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a novel compound which is useful as a charge transporter in an electrophotographic photoreceptor.

CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I (R1, R2 are H, alkyl, alkoxy, dialkylaminoaryl; R3, R4 are alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heterocyclic ring or a residue forming a ring together with a N-atom; Ar arylene; m is 1, 2; n is 1, 2). The compound is synthesized by reaction of an aldehyde of the formula: X-Ar-CHO (X is halogen) with a hydrazine of formula II followed by reaction of the hydrazone product with a diphenylethylene of formula III in the presence of a compound of a transition metal in group VIII, triarylphosphine, and a base. The compound of formula I has a high charge mobility and the electrophotographic photoreceptor including the compound as a charge transporter in the photosensitive layer has stabilized initial potential, reduced dark decay, high sensitivity, reduced deterioration caused by repetition and high durability.
