Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that hydrocarbon oils used generally in cosmetic materials and skin external agents comprise the petroleum, synthetic, animal-fish and plant types according to their sources but have limits on their resources and are being increased in requirements for sustainable raw materials with reduced environmental load, from the viewpoint of recent global environmental problems, and provide sustainably and stably available hydrocarbon oils and cosmetic materials and skin external agents blended with them.SOLUTION: A hydrocarbon oil obtained by a chemical treatment, e.g. hydrogenation, of farnesene produced by microorganisms in the presence of a nutrient source containing a carbon substrate is useful as an oil agent for skin external agents and is sustainably and stably available.
