Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the hydroconversing rate of Conradson carbon residue by using a catalyst obtained through an electric discharge operation and comprising metal(-contg.) particles dispersed in a carbonaceous matrix.
CONSTITUTION: A carbonaceous substance is hydroconverted with hydrogen at a high temp. under a high pressure in the presence of a catalyst pref. prepd. by bringing a hydrogen-contg. gas into contact with a plasma contg. a vapor of Na or Al metal and comprising the metal particles and/or metal-contg. particles dispersed in a carbonaceous matrix containing pentane and/or decane.
