PURPOSE: To improve the nitrogen sensitivity and hydrocracking efficiency of a bulky material by hydrocracking a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock by use of a plurality of reaction stages.
CONSTITUTION: In a first reaction stage, a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock is brought into contact with a first hydrocracking catalyst in the presence of hydrogen at a high temperature and high pressure to generate a first distillate, and at least the liquid part of the distillate is mixed with a second distillate generated from a second reaction stage. The resulting mixture is brought into contact with a third hydrocracking catalyst in the presence of hydrogen at a high temperature and high pressure to generate a third distillate, the distillate is carried to a separating stage to provide one or more top fraction and a residual fraction. The residual fraction is sent to the second reaction stage and brought into contact with the second hydrocracking catalyst in the pressure of hydrogen at high temperature and high pressure to generate the second distillate.
