PURPOSE: To enhance the hydrocrackability of hydrocarbon charge by carrying a specific amt. of group VIII metal of the periodic table and a specific amt. of group VIA metal of the periodic table on zeolite of a two-dimensional structure, thereby forming the catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A zeolite precursor material is heat treated at 250 to 550°C to form the zeolite of the two-dimensional structure. This zeolite is used as a carrier and the group VIII metal alone of the periodic table or the compd. thereof is supported thereon at 1.5 to 7.5 wt.% in terms of an element quantity. Further, the VIA metal alone of the periodic table or the compd. thereof is supported thereon at 5 to 16 wt.% in terms of an element quantity, by which the hydrocracking catalyst of the hydrocarbon charge is produced. The zeolite carrier having a specific surface area of 50 to 500 m2/g and foundation intervals of ≥16×10-10 m is adequate. The metal of the group VIII is adequately Ni and the metal of the group VIA is Mo.
