To prevent occurrence of the disappearance of an oil film caused by the phenomenon that the air accumulated within the bearing pushes the oil out of the bearing clearance.
A hydrodynamic bearing apparatus has hydrodynamic pressure generating grooves composed of pattern-like shallow grooves provided on at least one of an outside peripheral surface of a shaft and an inside peripheral surface of a sleeve, and at least one deep groove of at least either of a pattern-like deep groove or an almost straight deep groove in the direction of the axis. The clearance between the shaft and the sleeve is filled with lubricating fluid. The deep groove is configured so as to have the depth at least twice that of the hydrodynamic pressure generating shallow grooves. As a result, the hydrodynamic bearing apparatus and a disk apparatus using the same can be configured such that the disappearance of the oil film in the bearing clearance can be prevented by removing the air accumulated in the bearing clearance while reserving the lubricating fluid in the bearing clearance.
