Title:
HYDRODYNAMIC BRAKE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH028521
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide controllability for the spin when a fluid moves from a rotor into a stator by bearing a plurality of additional guide vanes rotatably on either of a rotor impeller and stator impeller, and operating it by one operating device.

CONSTITUTION: A hydrodynamic brake is structured so that a ring-shaped working chamber is formed by arranging a rotor impeller 11 and stator impeller 12 in a brake casing 9. The rotor impeller 11 is fixed onto a shaft to be braked 10, and vanes 13 and 14 are integrally mounted on the two impellers 11 and 12 in such a way as inclined with respect to the rotational axis. A rim consisting of movable guide vane 15 is arranged between the two impellers 11 and 12, and with its rotation, control is made for the spin generated when fluid moves from the rotor impeller 11 into the stator impeller 12. Thereby, good braking characteristics are accomplished.
