To provide a hydrodynamic pressure bearing unit capable of bearing a rotary shaft in high speed rotation while a small quantity of lubricating liquid, despite in the liquid state, is circulated naturally without causing leakage to the surrounding.
A bearing unit is composed of rotation side members 2 and 4 and a stationary side member 3, and in the bearing gap formed between the members, a fluid lubricating film of high pressure is formed, and thereby a rotary shaft 1 in rotation is borne. In this hydrodynamic pressure bearing unit, an absorbing substance 10 is provided adjacent to the rotation side members 2 and 4 and stationary side member 3 and confronting the bearing gap, and the lubricant exhausted from the bearing gap is absorbed by the substance 10 for storage, while a transfusion pipe 11 is inserted in the substance 10 so that the lubricating liquid in the substance 10 is sucked naturally to the bearing gap via the transfusion pipe 11.
