PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogel having excellent mechanical strength and a method of producing the same.SOLUTION: In a solution comprising a monofunctional vinyl monomer, a polyfunctional vinyl monomer, water or aqueous solvent, the monofunctional vinyl monomer and the polyfunctional vinyl monomer are copolymerized by living radical polymerization to obtain a hydrogel of the present invention.
