To generate hydrogen which is a clean energy source through a chemical reaction utilizing a product other than natural resources, to efficiently recover the hydrogen, and to inhibit formation of hazardous substances formed through the chemical reaction.
A reaction vessel 2 is equipped with a reaction chamber 3 wherein the chemical reaction between Na101 and water is carried out. A hydrogen-extraction tube 5 for extracting the hydrogen generated in the reaction chamber 3, an oxygen-extraction tube 6 for extracting oxygen generated in the reaction chamber 3 and a water-injection tube 7 for injecting water into the reaction chamber 3 are each connected to the reaction vessel 2 and each opened inside the reaction chamber 3. A heat transfer pipe 8 for heating, which serves as a heat source, is connected to the reaction vessel 2.
