Abstract:
To prevent temporal deterioration of hydrogen purity of refined hydrogen gas extracted from a cathode of an electrochemical device.SOLUTION: There is provided a hydrogen production system comprising an electrochemical device 100 comprising an electrolytic membrane-electrode conjugate 107 constituted of an anode 105, a cathode 106, and an electrolytic membrane 104 disposed therebetween, gas supply means 160 of supplying the anode 105 with hydrogen-containing gas, a power source 161 that feeds an electric current between the anode 105 and the cathode 106 so that hydrogen gas is produced on the cathode 106, an anode relative humidity controller 165 that controls the relative humidity at the anode 105 by dehumidifying or humidifying the hydrogen-containing gas supplied to the anode 105, and a controller 162 that decreases the moisture content in the electrolytic membrane 104 by allowing the anode relative humidity controller 165 to decrease the relative humidity at the anode 105, in accordance with lengthening of the operation time of the electrochemical device 100.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
