Abstract:

To provide a nickel hydrogen storage battery with high capacity and long charging/discharging cycle life.

Hydrogen storage alloy powder having the composiition represented by the general formula, ZrTitMnuMovVwCrxCoyNiz (wherein 0.05≤t≤-0.25, 0.4≤u≤0.6, 0.01≤v≤0.2, 0≤w≤0.1, 0.15≤x≤0.25, 0≤y≤0.2, 1≤z≤1.3, 1.6≤(u+v+w+x+y+z)/(1+t) ≤2), in which its main alloy phase is an intermetallic compound belonging to Leaves phase, and the sum of the integral values of diffraction lines not belonging to the Leaves phase in powder X-ray diffraction 5% or less of the sum of the integral values of the total diffraction lines is used as a negative electrode material.
