Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve a discharge characteristic when rapid charging is carried out without spoiling high capacity and an initial discharge characteristic by solving a problem that the discharge characteristic becomes very bad since a battery becomes high temperature (about 80°C) when the rapid charging is carried out in a storage battery formed by using a negative electrode of hydrogen storage alloy.

CONSTITUTION: A general equation of hydrogen storage alloy or the hydride is expressed by ZrMnwVxMobMyNiz [provided that, M is at least a single kind of element selected from a group composed of Fe and Co, and (0.4≤w≤0.8, 0.1≤x≤0.3, 0<b≤0.2, 0≤y≤0,2 1.0≤z≤1.5 and 2.0≤w+x+b+y+z≤2.4) is realized]. A main component of an alloy phase is a C15 type Laves phase, and the crystal lattice constant (a) is (7.05 angstrom ≤a≤7.13 angstrom).
