Abstract:

To inexpensively provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode with superior oxygen absorbing function and corrosion resistance, and a nickel- hydrogen storage battery with superior internal pressure rise suppressing function of a battery in a charging terminal stage and a charge and discharge cycle characteristic.

The hydrogen storage alloy electrode and the nickel-hydrogen storage battery using it are characterized by that a layer of cerium oxide (CeO2) powder is provided on an electrode surface mainly composed of a hydrogen storage alloy. It is favorable that the amount of cerium oxide (CeO2) contained in the layer of the cerium oxide (CeO2) powder is 0.5-3 mg/cm2 per unit area.
