Abstract:

PURPOSE: To accelerate hydrogen storage at the time of charging and provided hydrogen storage alloy electrode excellent in gas absorption property by mixing a nickel fine powder with a hydrogen storage alloy powder.

CONSTITUTION: For example, 5wt.% of nickel fine powder having average particle size 0.8μm is added to and well mixed with a hydrogen storage alloy expressed as ZrMn0.6Co0.1V0.2Ni1.2, which is one of C15-type Laves phase alloys, and formed into an electrode. By using the electrode for a negative pole and a conventional nickel oxide electrode for a positive pole, a battery is composed and a battery having an initial activation property and able to be charged quickly is thus obtained.
