Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a hydrogen storage alloy reduced in the production cost by extremely reducing the content of cobalt, also excellent in pulverizing characteristics and hydrogen occluding characteristics and further having good outputting characteristics and preservable characteristics, and to provide its production method.
SOLUTION: This hydrogen storage alloy is an AB5 type hydrogen storage alloy having a CaCu5 type crystal structure expressed by the general formula of MmNiaMnbAlcCod (wherein, Mm is misch metal; and 4.1<a≤4.3, 0.4<b≤0.6, 0.2≤c≤0.4, 0.1≤d≤0.4, and 5.2≤a+b+c+d≤5.45 are satisfied) or the general formula of MmNiaMnbAlcCodXe (wherein, Mm is misch metal; X is Cu and/or Fe, and 4.1<a≤4.3, 0.4<b≤0.6, 0.2≤c≤0.4, 0.1≤d≤0.4, 0<e≤0.1, and 5.2≤a+b+c+d+e≤5.45 are satisfied), and in which the lattice length of the (c) axis is ≥406.2 pm.
