Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the hydrogen storage alloy having excellent characteristics by adding at least one kind among rare earth elements, misdh metal or V to a Zr-Mn-Co-Al series hydrogen storage alloy.

CONSTITUTION: Metal A of at least one kind among rare earth elements, misdh metal and V is added to a hydrogen storage alloy constituted of a Zr-Mn-Co-Al series quarternary alloy of which a part of Mn in a ZrMn2 alloy having MgZn2 Laves phase structure is substituted by Co and furthermore admixed with Al to manufacture an alloy having the compsn. expressed by Zr(Mn1-XCoX)YAlZAW (in the formula, X=0 to 0.5, Y as the stoichiometric ratio =1.7 to 2.3, Z=0 to 0.15 and W=0 to 0.4). The hydrogen storage alloy having less difference in heat of reaction at the time of hydrogen storing and discharging and having excellent service life of the hydrogen discharging cycle can be obtd.
