Abstract:
To provide hydrogenated linear copolymers comprising butadiene and isoprene units, and processes for preparing the copolymers; a lubricating oil composition comprising the copolymers; and the use of the copolymers as a lubricant additive for gear oils, transmission oils, hydraulic oils, engine oils, grease, marine oils or industrial lubricating oils.SOLUTION: A hydrogenated linear copolymer, obtainable by polymerizing a monomer composition comprising: a) 10 to 60 mol% of 1,3-butadiene monomer, b) 40 to 90 mol% of isoprene, c) 0 to 40 mol% of one or more of C1-C6 alkyl(meth)acrylates, and d) 0 to 30 mol% of one or more of C7-C24 alkyl(meth)acrylates, based on the total amount of monomers in the monomer composition, wherein the total amount of monomers a) and b) sum up to at least 60 mol% of the total amount of the monomer composition, and the hydrogenated copolymer has a mass-average molecular weight (Mw) in the range of 2,000 g/mol to 30,000 g/mol and a degree of hydrogenation of more than 95%.SELECTED DRAWING: None
