Title:
HYDROGENATING AND ISOMERIZING METHOD FOR BENZENE-CONTAINING HYDROCARBON OIL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3464079
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the benzene content of and maintain or improve the octane number of a benzene-contg. hydrocarbon oil as a gasoline source, by subjecting it to hydrogenation and isomerization in one stage to highly selectively convert benzene contained therein into methylcyclopentane.
CONSTITUTION: Benzene contained in a hydrocarbon oil is selectively hydrogenated and isomerized by a one-stage reaction in the presence of a catalyst comprising a group VIII metal supported by β-zeolite having an SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 10-100, thus giving a methylcyclopentane-contg. hydrocarbon oil. For instance, when a fixed-bed flow reactor is used, the reaction is conducted under a hydrogen pressure of 5-50kg/cm2 at 100-350°C at a liq. space velocity (WHSV) of 0.1-20.0hr-1.
