Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst that is not deactivated by sulfur compds. by allowing at least a part of a hydrogenation component and at least a part of a metal oxide-contg. component to exist on a support as separate particles and homogeneously distributing the particles of the components in a catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: In a catalyst consisting of at least one hydrogenation component, at least one metal oxide-contg. component and at least one support, at least a part of the hydrogenation component and at least a part of the metal oxide- contg. component are allowed to exist on the support as separate particles, and the particles of the hydrogenation component and the particles of the metal oxide-contg. components are homogeneously distributed in the catalyst to obtain the objective hydrogenation and/or dehydrogenation catalyst exhibiting excellent resistance against deactivation by sulfur compds. It is preferable that the catalyst compsn. per 1 mm3 is not substantially different from the entire compsn. of the catalyst. The hydrogenation component is, e.g. Cu, Ni or Pt. The metal oxide-contg. component is, e.g. iron oxide.
