To provide a hydrogenation isomerization catalyst which can allow lubricant base oil and/or fuel base oil, particularly, hydrocarbon oil suitable for high-quality lubricant base oil to be obtained stably in high yield from normal paraffin-containing hydrocarbon oil and which is excellent in isomerization selectivity and isomerization reactivity.
The hydrogenation isomerization catalyst contains the fired zeolite (a) obtained by firing the ion-exchanged zeolite to be obtained by ion-exchanging the zeolite, which is a crystalline agglomerate having 0.01-1 μm number-average length in the major axis direction, has a 10-membered ring one-dimensional pore structure and contains an organic template, in a solution containing ammonium ions and/or protons, a fired inorganic porous oxide (b), and at least one metal (c) which is deposited on the fired zeolite and/or the fired inorganic porous oxide and is selected from the group consisting of metals belonging to groups 8-10 of the periodic table, molybdenum and tungsten.
