Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a producing method of a dicarboxylic acid by which both of hydrolysis of a dicarboxylic acid ester and separation of an alcohol produced can be carried out.
CONSTITUTION: This producing method for a dicarboxylic acid in a liquid phase has the following features. A mixture of 1-4C alkyl aliphatic dicarboxylate and water is introduced into the center part of a column which houses a sulfonic acid group-contg. gel resin having the structure of styrene and divinylbenzene (the weight proportion of the divinylbenzene to the whole weight of the structure is 1 to 12%) and having 3 to 6.5 milliequiv. H+ exchanging ability for one gram of a dry resin. The resin is held in a specified position by a supporting body. The alcohol produced by hydrolysis is continuously distilled to subject the mixture to reactive distillation.
