To provide a hydrophilic microporous film having an inhibitory effect sufficient to effectively remove a virus from a biologically active substance solution, and excellent in wettability by water, protein non-adsorbency and stain resistance.

The hydrophilic microporous film is obtained by copolymerizing, by a graft polymerization method, a polymeric microporous film with a hydrophilic monomer having one vinyl group, and a crosslinking agent having two or more vinyl groups, in an amount of 20 to 1,000 mol% based on the hydrophilic monomer.
