To provide a molding having an extremely hydrophilic surface and not suffering reduction in water resistance because of the endowed hydrophilic feature and to provide a method to manufacture the same with the productivity.
A hydrophilic molding whose angle of contact with water is less than 20°, formed by the covalent bonding of a hydrophilic compound (c) with the surface of a shape of a cross-linked polymer (I) on which it less. The cross-linked polymer (I) is a copolymer of a cross-linked polymer compound (a) and an amphipatic polymer compound (b) which is copolymerizable with the cross-linked polymer compound (a); the cross-linked polymer (I) exhibits a contact angle with water of 10-60°; and the increase in weight to occur in the cross-linked polymer (I) is not more than 10% of its weight after immersion in 25°C water for 24 hours.
