PURPOSE: To obtain the title composition being excellent in water-resistant self-adhesiveness, flexibility and water absorptivity, nontoxicity and nonirritating and useful as, e.g., a patch for oral mucosa, by dispersing a vinyl acetate (co)polymer, a softener and a water-absorptive polymer particles by kneading under heating.
CONSTITUTION: 30W200pts.wt. water-absorptive polymer particles (C) of a particle diameter of 1W100μ, at least one member selected from among guar gum, locust bean gum, karaya gum and gum arbic and pectin are added to 100pts.wt. total of 85W30pts.wt. vinyl acetate (co)polymer (A) such as a vinyl acetate homopolymer or vinyl acetate copolymer of a vinyl acetate content ≥70wt.% and a component of other components ≥30wt.% each of which has a degree of polymerization of 300W9,000 and 15W70pts.wt. at least one softener (B) selected from among a di(2C or lower alkyl)phthalate, a tri(2C or higher alkyl) citrate and glycerol triacetate, and the obtained mixture is kneaded with a kneader mixer or the like under heating to obtain the title composition composed of component C dispersed in a phase comprising components A and B.
