To provide a hydrophilic treatment method for a biochemical instrument, in which the inner surface of the instrument is subjected to uniform hydrophilic treatment, and generation of air bubbles is rare when a chemical solution is injected and/or recovered, and also adsorption of proteins is reduced so as to be able to recover with high precision and at a high recovery rate, with respect to biochemical instruments, such as a micro-plate, a micro-tube or a pipette chip having a long tubular shape, and to provide a biochemical instrument treated by the method.
The hydrophilic treatment method for the biochemical instrument is characterized in that when the biochemical instrument using a polyolefin resin or a polystyrene resin is subjected to sulfonating treatment, the instrument is arranged in a closed treatment chamber, the treatment chamber is evacuated to a pressure-reduction degree of 30 kPa or lower, and then a sulfur trioxide-containing gas diluted with a dilution gas having a dew point of ≤-50°C is introduced into the treatment chamber in an evacuated state, and the sulfur trioxide-containing gas is brought into contact with the inner surface of the instrument so that the amount of sulfur atom-containing groups on the inner surface of the instrument becomes 0.05-5.0% in the percentage of the number of sulfur atoms, as measured by an energy-dispersed X-ray spectroscopy.
